William Parry Thomas, Jr.

William Parry Thomas, Jr. passed away peacefully,  August 23, 2024.  He was born in Rockland, Maine, February 08, 1941 to the late William Parry Thomas, Sr. and Edith Thomas.

William was the beloved husband of Anne L. (nee Morrissey) for almost 58 years.  He was the loving father of Michael W. (Jennifer) Thomas and Megan (Ryan) Carney and cherished grandpa of Maggie and Katie Thomas and Kami and Will Carney.  Dear brother of Eleanor (late Dallas) Knight and late Ann (late Robert) Dorio.  Fond uncle of many nieces and nephews.  William was a friend to many.

While attending the University of Maine, he was a pitcher at Orono from 1959-1963.  William proudly served in the National Guard for 5+ years.  He was a Fire Protection Engineer, involved in fire research, serving as Chairman of Storage and Rack Storage for National Fire Protection Association, as well as Fellow of the Society of Fire Protection Engineers.  William also spent years at Kemper Insurance as head of the training facility at HPR Department.  Things William loved to do: LOVED watching his grandkids playing sports or any events they enjoyed, playing golf, watching the Red Sox, and playing horseshoes.

Bill's memorial visitation will be Sunday, September 8, from 12 p.m. until the time for sharing remembrances at 3 p.m., at Hamsher Lakeside Funerals & Cremations, 12 N. Pistakee Lake Rd., Fox Lake.  Interment will be private.
