William “Bill” Prange, 78, a resident of Ingleside since 1987, passed away Tuesday, January 25, 2022. He was born September 30, 1943, in Chicago, to the late Walter and Gertrude “Ditty” (nee Richter) Prange.
Bill was raised in Chicago and, growing up, spent much time at his family’s cottage in Ingleside, which he eventually made his family’s year-around home. He owned Sound Services, an electronics-repair business,on Belmont Avenue in Chicago for 43 years. Bill also served his country by enlisting in the Air National Guard and was honorably discharged as a Master Sergeant after serving for 23 years. He enjoyed electronics, fishing, model trains, and helping people—most recently at the Community Care Center Food Pantry in Grayslake for five years.
Bill is survived by his wife of 50 years, Christine (nee Onisk); children, Kevin (Courtney) Prange and Tina (Thomas) Weckmann; grandchildren, Robert and Kiera Weckmann; brothers, Richard (It) Richter and Robert (Virginia) Prange; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his brothers, James (Janey) and Donald (JoAnn) Prange.
To help future medical professionals better understand the human body, Bill donated his body to the Anatomical Gift Association of Illinois. There will be no services.
