William “Bill” R. Schroeder, 83, formerly of Lake Villa, passed away Monday, April 12, 2021, at Advocate Condell Medical Center, Libertyville. He was born July 3, 1937, in Chicago, to the late William C. and Elna (nee Ostergaard) Schroeder.
Bill grew up in Chicago, was a longtime resident of Fox Lake Hills, and retired from North Chicago Refineries. He enjoyed bird watching, fishing, rock collecting and polishing, camping, telling stories, John Wayne movies, music (especially Johnny Cash and the song, Way Up High in the Apple Tree), dancing, and the phrase, “Would I lie to you?”. Above all, Bill loved to spend time with his family and adored his time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include his children, Linda (Al) Matheson, William C. (Joy) Schroeder, Thomas (Susan) Schroeder, and Dawn (Robert) Hauser; grandchildren, Jill, Tammy (Erick), Stephanie, William R. (Carolyn), Brandon, Danielle, Wesley (Rebecca), Casey, Andrew (Sarah), Kelly (John), Candice (Chris), and Kayla; great-grandchildren, Joshua, Lauryn, Ethan, Kylie, Cameron, Zoey, Jaxon, William C., Logan, Lucas, Leah, Anthony, Tyler, Emily, Zander, Damon, Cody, Collin, and Celene; and siblings, Jack (Shirley) Schroeder, Larry (Teresa) Schroeder, Terry (Grace) Schroeder, Ronnie Schroeder, and Nancy (the late Dennis) Palasz; and by many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Caroline “Bema” (nee Motter) Schroeder on February 6, 2013; grandson, Kenny; and brothers, Gary (Maryann) Schroeder and Bob (Katy) Schroeder.
