Lawrence Frank Pichotti, of Round Lake Beach, was born on October 13, 1934, in Chicago and passed away peacefully Tuesday, May 3, 2016, at his home.
Larry was a devoted husband and is survived by his wife of 62 years, Margie Pichotti; a loving father to Doreen Pichotti and the late Victoria (Eddy Sowizdrzal) Pichotti; proud grandfather to Alecia (Jason) Waddingham and Nicole (Greg) Crutchfield; even prouder great-grandfather to Tyler and Avery Crutchfield; and is also survived by his sister, MaryLou (the late Sal) Gibbelina, who knew him as "Sonny". Several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.
A current member of St. Bede Catholic Church, Larry attended St. Vincent DePaul's Catholic grammar school.
Larry was a Teamster with union 786, and a lifelong truck driver. He drove and operated 18-wheelers for Celli Trucking and other construction vehicles such as cement, materials, and salt. He often helped keep the Chicagoland area and its airport safe by laying down salt in the late night during major snow storms. In retirement, he drove food-delivery trucks for Quality Catering delivering to many daycare centers for children.
Known to many as Frank—especially his friends—he was an avid boater for over 30 years. His 32-foot Trojan cabin cruiser (named Tite-Wad), docked on the Chain of Lakes, brought happy times to many. Beside his family, his favorite and lifelong loves were his animals—including numerous toy poodles and cats. His favorite hobbies included fishing, model train, plane and automobile building, and coin collecting.
