Robert “Bob” Gaylor, 79, a resident of Ingleside since 1946, died Friday, November 17, 2017, surrounded by his family, at home.
Bob was born March 1, 1938, in Chicago, to the late Harry and Pauline (nee Tralewski) Gaylor. He was a graduate of Big Hollow School and a 1956 graduate of Grant Community High School who went on to serve in the US Army. Bob cofounded Gaylor Excavating, was a longtime manager of Holiday Park, served on the board of Big Hollow Grade School, and was a proud member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 150. He was an avid outdoorsman and avid fan of all Chicago sports teams.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, JoAnn (nee Unruh); children, Jennifer (Steve) Spahn and Robert “Bobby” (Morna) Gaylor; grandchildren, Brittney and Jessica Spahn, and Dakota, Austin, and Hayden Gaylor; and many loving nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his siblings, Richard “Rich” (Colette) Gaylor, Marge (Paul) Dunman, and Jerry Gaylor.
The family thanks JourneyCare Hospice for their wonderful care of Bob.
Visitation Saturday, November 25, from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m., at Hamsher Lakeside Funerals and Cremations, 12 N. Pistakee Lake Rd., Fox Lake.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association, appreciated.
